Ferrari announces roadster version for the 599 GTB
Ferrari recently announced that the next vehicle to roll out of their plant in Maranello will be 599 GTB Roadster. The announcement was made By Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari President, during a special gathering of press in London.
Montezemolo revealed that the supercar will be an unusual vehicle and will only have a very limited run. The roadster will be up for grabs to Ferrari fanatics who have been asking for a version of the 599 GTB with an open-top. The new member of the Ferrari will not be spotlighted on motor shows but will be unveiled in private gatherings organized by Ferrari.
The 575 Superamerica launched back in 2005 was the last limited release of a Ferrari open-top. This car featured glass that can rotate 180 degrees so it can smoothly be placed onto the boot.
The Italian carmaker did not reveal the system which will be used for the roof of the upcoming car but there is a high possibility that we’l see a folding hardtop similar to the California.
The Ferrari executive also focused on their interest on new technologies which will help their lineup be more fuel efficient and hybrid systems that can be exploited.
He also hinted that the Ferrari systems will continue to improve moving forward as displayed with their hybrid system based on their KERS experience in Formula 1 racing.
