The new BiTDI diesel engine has a 3.0L displacement and outputs 313 PS. This Audi diesel engine will debut on the A6 Avant and saloon and the A7 in the United Kingdom. The engine has a 2-stage turbocharger which has roughly 3.2 bar of max boost pressure that leads to a monstrous 650 Nm torque.

Based on the numbers, the A6 with 3.0BiTDI can blast from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour in just 5.1 seocnds. The A7 Sportback and the A6 Avant is a blink slower and get there at 5.3 seconds. The top speed is limited electronically at 155 mph for all versions.

The fuel mileage is also pretty impressive at 44.1 miles per gallon. The engine will come with the efficiency platform of Audi, a start and stop system, and thermal management.

The new Audi diesel engine will also be equipped with sound actuators to make sure that there is that good roar that will come out of the TDI exhaust pipes similar to the brute growl of a petrol sports car. So no need to worry that it will have the typical meow of a diesel engine.

The new Audi BiTDI engine will go with the S line and SE specs for the A6 Avant, A6 Saloon, and the A7 Sportback. The A6 Allroad Audi quattro will also offer this engine starting this month. These models all feature a navigation system thru a 6.5 inch monitor, leather upholstery, adaptive dynamics technology, parking system, rain and light sensors, keyless ignition, and cruise control.

It is no surprise that the German luxury car manufacturer will head towards this direction as its rival in Munich has been using straight six engines for their vehicles.

You might be surprise like everyone else but there is a family of powerplants like the big bore V8s and low-cost fours. These engines will be replaced by downsized 4.0L units with turbochargers. But the replacement of the V6 might have caused some people to wonder.

Mercedes will be reviving their in-line six which will be perfect for their bigger vehicles. Daimler insiders shared that it may come as a single or twin turbo variant.

After the alliance with the Renault and Nissan empire and with the inflow of engines like the 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder diesel and petrol engines to be used for smaller Mercs, one might come to think that the Mercedes-Benz of today might just have a different feel compared to the future rides from this brand.

Now, here’s the plan. An SUV version for the Maserati will be introduced during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show this year. This will take on the platform of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and will get the heart of a Chrysler Pentastar, a V6 engine, as one of the options for the engines.

There’s more in store because according to recent reports, two new sedan models will be introduced to replace the Quattroporte sedan, which has been criticized to be neither a chauffeur’s or a driver’ car. The two new sedans for the Maserati brand will be built using the components and systems from the Dodge Avenger and the Chrysler 300.

The new sedan will have the traditional layout of the Maserati brand with the rear-wheel-drive platform and the longitudinal front engine. The sedan will make its first appearance with a 3.0-liter engine with a MultiAir variable valve timing from Fiat, direct injection feature and dual turbochargers. This new engine packs 400horsepower. Initial tag price is estimated at $79,000.

In 2013, the Maserati will introduce a larger version of the baby Quattroporte which will be 2.5 inches longer than the existing model. This one will get a 4.7-liter V8 engine with its 475 horsepower attached to a ZF 8-speed gearbox.

Vigorous Fiat enthusiasts can choose from the five versions of the Fiat 500 “First Edition” namely, 500 Follow Your Instinct, 500 Life, 500 Surprise, 500 Shangri-La, and 500 Fairy Tale. Each of these Fiat 500 models comes in a beautiful three-coat pearly white finish with exterior graphics on the body work. Not only that, the Fiat 500 “First Edition” also comes with a striking red leather interior and door pillars that contain special badges.

The Fiat 500 “First Edition” is patterned after the existing Fiat 500 Lounge. Under the hood is a 1.4-liter V-4 gas engine. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic. The basic price tag for this limited model cars kicks off at $29,250 for consumers in China.

Now to make things more interesting, Fiat fans can place their early even before the September 14 official sale launch. A special drawing will be made so that one lucky Fiat consumer can trade the standard Fiat 500 model for a limited Fiat 500 “First Edition” unit. Sometime in the next year, the Italian brand and its partner Guangzhou Automobile Group Co (GAC) will unveil the 500 by Gucci and the 500C Convertible.

The new M5 will sport a twin turbocharged V8 4.4L powerplant that can give ot 580 horsepower and a monstrous torque. Considering these numbers, BMW has done some healthy upgrades ove the last generation M5.

The German carmaker also did some work on the M double-clutch gearbox and also implemented a start stop function to meet market standards such as in the United States. According to initial reports, the new M5 consumers 25% less fuel than its older sibling with a V10 and also emits 25% less carbon dioxide.

The car manufacturer also boasts that the upcoming V8 BMW M5 has more oomph that the outgoing V10. If this is true, then kudos to BMW for producing a more powerful engine that consumes lesser fuel.

Aside from the powerful engine, BMW put everything to come up with a more athletic appearance for the Concept M5. The design lines of the M5 makes use of the whole vocabulary of M design. The designers and engineers gave the new M5 bigger air intakes and optimized the aerodynamic components of the super sedan.

Viewed from its side, the M5 Concept further highlights its sportiness with the flowing lines that they used. The car also rolls on cool, large alloy M-specific rims.

Montezemolo revealed that the supercar will be an unusual vehicle and will only have a very limited run. The roadster will be up for grabs to Ferrari fanatics who have been asking for a version of the 599 GTB with an open-top. The new member of the Ferrari will not be spotlighted on motor shows but will be unveiled in private gatherings organized by Ferrari.

The 575 Superamerica launched back in 2005 was the last limited release of a Ferrari open-top. This car featured glass that can rotate 180 degrees so it can smoothly be placed onto the boot.

The Italian carmaker did not reveal the system which will be used for the roof of the upcoming car but there is a high possibility that we’l see a folding hardtop similar to the California.

The Ferrari executive also focused on their interest on new technologies which will help their lineup be more fuel efficient and hybrid systems that can be exploited.

He also hinted that the Ferrari systems will continue to improve moving forward as displayed with their hybrid system based on their KERS experience in Formula 1 racing.

So you can imagine my delight upon getting a sneak peek at the new concept, the 5 by Peugeot, which will get its debut just next month at the annual motor show in Geneva. Considered a show car, the second in Peugeot’s lineup, it will show beside the formerly announced SR1 concept.

This is a concept meant to showcase where the French automaker wants to go in the future, especially in the way of its design aesthetic. This is where Peugeot’s larger luxury vehicles will be going.

Tesla Motors is the brand and I can tell you for sure, that this particular car is going to be one of those that are very, very popular at the motor show in Geneva.  After all, how many cars truly do look like the IED Tesla EYE Concept?  None that I have seen in this blog and I have seen some pretty unique cars.
